As some of you may already know, in addition to producing The Vinyl Experience, I also produce a gaming podcast, For The Lore. As with The Vinyl Experience, periodically we get to interview guests on For The Lore. Several weeks ago, we were very fortunate to get an interview with Greg Kasavin, the creative director of a new indie game; Bastion. During this interview, we (the hosts) as well as our audience, expressed our love of the game’s soundtrack.

I spoke to Greg about this later, and told him that I would love the opportunity to feature the game’s soundtrack on The Vinyl Experience. The game, being an indie production, would still fit the theme of this podcast… and the music, quite frankly, is just too good not to share.

I want to get people, gamers and non-gamers alike, interested in this soundtrack.

I got the soundtrack producer’s email from Greg, and soon was going back and forth with Darren Korb about perhaps getting him on the podcast for an interview of his own to discuss the process of creating this fantastic soundtrack. He graciously agreed, and the interview, as you’ll hear, was great. He offered a lot of behind-the-scenes on the project, and it was fun hearing about how collaborative this process was.

I strongly urge folks to pick up the soundtrack, as I feel it’s absolutely brilliant. From haunting melodies, to hip-hop style instrumentals, this soundtrack is great whether listening in the car or at home.

A few of you lucky listeners won’t have to buy the CD though, as Darren was gracious enough to give me a few downloadable copies to giveaway on the podcast. If you’re interested, send an email to thevinylexperience (at) gmail (dot) com, and in the subject line, write “Bastion CD Giveaway”.

In addition to this, Darren’s also sending me a few physical copies to give away. If you’d prefer an actual CD of the soundtrack, just indicate that in the body of your email.

Lastly, if you’re interested in a fun indie game that offers a fantastic story and soundtrack, definitely pick up Bastion (available on XBox Live and on Steam for PCs).

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed putting it together for y’all.

If you would like to donate to help cover some of the costs of this project, it would be greatly appreciated.
